Terms of Service
Last updated: 17 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and WhatsHook LTD (“WhatsHook”, “we”, “us”, “our”) for using WhatsHook: our website, your dashboard, your reader and our connector for AI apps. They're written in plain English, and the most important parts are highlighted: section 3 (how WhatsHook works with WhatsApp), section 6 (other people's messages) and section 15 (our responsibility to you).
You accept these terms when you create an account, and again when you tick the box on your dashboard before linking WhatsApp. If you don't agree, please don't use WhatsHook. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
1. Who we are
WhatsHook is run by WhatsHook LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [company number]), whose registered office is [registered office address]. You can reach us at hello@whatshook.com.
2. What WhatsHook does
- WhatsHook connects to your WhatsApp account as a linked device (your “reader”), which runs on a server we operate. It lets AI apps you allow, such as Claude or ChatGPT, read and search messages from the chats you pick. An AI app gets access only after you sign in to WhatsHook from it and press Allow (or if you give it an older private link; see section 5).
- It is read-only. It never sends messages, replies, reacts, deletes anything, marks messages as read, shows you as online or typing, or posts Status updates, and AI apps can't do any of these through WhatsHook.
- You can pick any of your chats, or all of them with All chats (new chats are then added as they start), and up to 50 groups, and change them at any time. We keep the last 90 days of the chats you pick, including the days before you picked them, and delete anything older every day. To make that possible, your reader keeps the last 90 days of your other chats on its own server. Those never reach our database or your AI apps unless you pick the chat, and they are deleted when WhatsHook is unlinked.
- WhatsHook reads text, captions and basic details such as who sent a message, when, and a file's name or type. It doesn't download photos, videos, voice notes, documents or other files, and it doesn't read calls. Status updates and channel posts can reach your reader, but they are never stored in our database or shown to your AI apps.
- WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted between devices. Your reader is one of your linked devices, so, like WhatsApp on a computer, it decrypts the messages it receives in order to read them.
- Messages can arrive late, be missing or be incomplete. When a message is deleted for everyone, WhatsHook deletes it too, and when one is edited, it keeps the new text, once your reader receives the change. Messages from chats with disappearing messages switched on are kept for up to 90 days, even after they disappear in WhatsApp.
- WhatsHook isn't a backup service, and it isn't suitable for anything urgent or safety-critical. Keep WhatsApp's own chat backup switched on.
3. WhatsHook and WhatsApp
WhatsHook is not made, endorsed or supported by WhatsApp or Meta, and is not affiliated with them. “WhatsApp” is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC. Claude, Anthropic, ChatGPT and OpenAI are trademarks of their owners. We use these names only to describe what WhatsHook works with.
WhatsHook links to your account as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp on a computer does, but through a third-party client rather than an app made by WhatsApp. WhatsApp hasn't officially approved WhatsHook and could consider third-party clients like it to be against its terms.
WhatsHook is built to stay well clear of the things WhatsApp acts against: it only reads, never sends messages or automates anything, and each account has its own internet address. As with any third-party tool, though, WhatsApp could still log WhatsHook out of your account or, in rare cases, restrict or suspend a number, without warning. If WhatsApp logs WhatsHook out, you can simply link it again. We can't control or appeal WhatsApp's decisions for you.
Keeping WhatsApp's own chat backup switched on is good practice in any case. When you tick the box on your dashboard, you confirm you understand this. Your agreement with WhatsApp is between you and WhatsApp, and we are not part of it. We are not responsible for any action WhatsApp or Meta takes about your number or account (see section 15).
If WhatsApp or Meta asks us to stop, or changes how WhatsApp works, we may have to suspend or end WhatsHook at short notice (see section 17).

4. Who can use WhatsHook
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- WhatsHook is for your own personal use as a consumer, not for business or on behalf of anyone else.
- Only connect a WhatsApp number that is yours, on your own phone. Never link anyone else's phone or account, even if you can get to it.
- Use an established number. New numbers and virtual (VoIP) numbers aren't allowed, because WhatsApp treats them more strictly, and we may refuse or disconnect them.
- One account per person, and one free trial per person and per number.
- You can't use WhatsHook if UK, EU, UN or US sanctions would make it unlawful for us to provide it to you.
- When every place is taken we pause sign-ups and keep a waitlist. Joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee a place.
5. Your account and your AI apps
- Keep your email account and your sign-in links and codes safe. You are responsible for what happens through your WhatsHook account, unless it is our fault.
- Anyone who can use an AI app account you have allowed (for example your Claude or ChatGPT account) can read your picked chats through it. Protect those accounts with a strong password and two-step verification.
- Your dashboard lists the AI apps you have allowed. Disconnect any you don't recognise or no longer use. Every connection ends by itself after 90 days; you then sign in again from your AI app to continue.
- If you still use an older private connector link, treat it like a password, and turn it off from your dashboard once your AI app is connected with sign-in.
- Tell us straight away at hello@whatshook.com if you think your account has been misused.
6. Other people's messages
The chats you pick contain other people's messages, names and phone numbers. When you pick a chat, you ask us to process that information for you, and you are responsible for doing so lawfully and fairly. You must:
- only pick chats you are part of and are comfortable having your AI app read;
- use what you learn only for your own personal purposes;
- take particular care with sensitive information, such as about health, money or children;
- un-pick a chat if someone in it asks you not to share it with an AI; and
- follow the privacy, confidentiality and other laws that apply to you, and any duty of confidentiality you have (for example, don't pick work chats your employer doesn't allow you to share with AI tools).
You must not use WhatsHook to monitor, track or spy on anyone, including a partner, child, family member or employee, or to publish, share or sell other people's messages without their agreement. If someone in a chat you picked asks us to stop using their messages and the law requires it, we may delete their messages and stop storing new ones from them, and we will tell you. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information about the people in your chats and how they can contact us.
7. Rules for using WhatsHook
You must not use WhatsHook:
- for anything illegal, fraudulent or harmful, or to harass, threaten, stalk or harm anyone;
- for spam, bulk or automated messaging;
- to collect, scrape or build profiles or datasets about other people, or to train your own AI models on their messages;
- for business, resale or on behalf of anyone else, or to share your access with other people; or
- in a way that infringes anyone's rights.
You must not:
- try to get into other people's accounts or into our systems, or test our systems for weaknesses (if you find a security problem, please tell us at hello@whatshook.com);
- copy, resell or reverse engineer WhatsHook, except where the law allows; or
- overload or disrupt WhatsHook, get around its limits, or create accounts or register apps by automated or misleading means.
8. Your AI app
- When you allow an AI app, you instruct us to let it read and search the messages it asks for in the chats you picked. It decides what to read based on what you ask it.
- Your AI provider (for example Anthropic or OpenAI) is a separate company. What it does with the messages it reads, such as keeping them in your conversation history or, depending on your settings there, using them to improve its models, is covered by your agreement with it and its privacy policy, not by these terms. We recommend turning off model training in your AI app's settings before you connect it.
- Disconnecting an app, or deleting your data in WhatsHook, doesn't delete copies your AI app already has.
- AI answers can be wrong or incomplete, or mix up who said what. Check the original messages before relying on an answer for anything important. We aren't responsible for what AI providers do or say.
- We may stop supporting an AI app, for example if it changes how connectors work, or for security reasons.
9. Free trial
- Your first 14 days are free, and you don't need a payment card to start. Nothing is charged during the trial, and you get the full service. You need an active trial or subscription to link WhatsApp.
- To keep WhatsHook after the trial, add a payment card before it ends. Once you have added a card, unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription continues automatically when it ends: we charge the monthly price to your card then, and every month after until you cancel (see section 10). We show you the date of your first payment and the price before you add a card, and on your dashboard.
- If you don't add a card, nothing is ever charged: when the trial ends, WhatsHook pauses (see below).
- We email you to confirm your trial has started, again 3 days and 1 day before it ends, and when it ends. Each email gives the date and the price, and either a link to add a card or, once you have added one, a link to cancel. We also confirm by email when you add a card.
- Cancel at any time during the trial (see section 11) and you pay nothing; WhatsHook keeps working until the trial ends.
- When a trial or subscription ends without a payment, WhatsHook pauses: your AI apps can't read your chats and new messages aren't added to your picked chats. If you haven't subscribed again 7 days later, we unlink WhatsHook from your phone and delete the WhatsApp data we stored.
- One free trial per person and per number, even with a new account. If you have had one before, you subscribe straight away and are charged then. If we find a repeat trial on the same number, we may end it early: if you have added a card, your subscription starts and is charged then; if not, WhatsHook pauses until you subscribe. We email you if we do.
- We may end a trial early if it was obtained by breaking these terms.
10. Price, payment and tax
- After the trial, WhatsHook costs the monthly price shown on our pricing page, on your dashboard and on the payment page. The price is in US dollars. When you subscribe on the payment page without a trial, it may offer to charge it in your own currency instead, converted by Stripe at its exchange rate, which includes a small conversion charge; it shows the amount before you start, and you can choose US dollars. Otherwise you are charged in US dollars and your bank converts it. If you subscribed earlier in pounds or euros, that stays your currency. The price we show when you subscribe is the total you pay each month, including any VAT or sales tax we have to charge where you live. Where the law lets tax be added at checkout (for example, US sales tax), we will show it before you pay.
- You pay monthly in advance through our payment provider (currently Stripe), whose terms also apply to your payment. We never see or store your full card number.
- Your subscription renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time (see section 11). Stripe emails you a receipt for each payment.
- If we change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies to you. If you don't want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it starts.
- If a payment fails, WhatsHook pauses until it is paid, and your dashboard tells you how to update your card. If it is still unpaid 7 days later, we cancel your subscription, unlink WhatsHook from your phone and delete the WhatsApp data we stored.
- Any fees your bank charges, for example for currency conversion, are yours to pay.
11. Cancelling and refunds
- How to cancel. At any time, in two clicks: Cancel subscription on your dashboard, or our cancel page at whatshook.com/cancel (linked at the bottom of every page and in our billing emails), where your account email is enough if you aren't logged in. You can also email us at hello@whatshook.com from your account email. We confirm every cancellation by email.
- What happens when you cancel. Nothing more is charged. WhatsHook keeps working until the end of your free trial or of the month you have paid for, then pauses; 7 days later, unless you subscribe again, we unlink it from your phone and delete the WhatsApp data we stored. Until your trial or paid month ends, you can turn your subscription back on from your dashboard.
- 14-day refund of your first payment. If you didn't mean to carry on after your trial, or you subscribed without a trial and changed your mind, cancel within 14 days of your first payment and we refund that payment in full. Logged in, the cancel page does this straight away; otherwise email us. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within 5 to 10 working days.
- Your legal right to cancel. If you live in the UK or the EU, or anywhere else that gives you this right, you can also cancel a new subscription within 14 days of starting it, without giving a reason, and we refund anything you have paid for it, including a first payment taken when your free trial ends within those 14 days. The refund of your first payment above goes further. You can use any of the ways above, or this form, but you don't have to: “To WhatsHook LTD, [registered office address], hello@whatshook.com: I give notice that I cancel my contract for the WhatsHook service. Subscribed on: [date]. Name: [your name]. Account email: [your email]. Date: [today].” We refund within 14 days of hearing from you, to the way you paid.
- Apart from that, we don't refund part months, unless the law requires it or these terms say so (for example, if we suspend or end WhatsHook for a reason that isn't your fault: see section 17).
12. Unlimited messages and fair use
There is no limit on the number of messages WhatsHook stores from the chats you pick, or on how often your AI apps read them. A fair use policy may apply in extreme cases: use far beyond what one person's own chats produce, or automated use that puts WhatsHook, WhatsApp accounts or other users at risk. If that happens we will contact you first, and we may then limit, for example, how often your AI apps can use WhatsHook or how much history we keep.
13. Availability and support
- WhatsHook is a new service. We work to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be available, complete or free of errors. WhatsApp can change how it works, disconnect linked devices or stop WhatsHook working at any time, and we may need to pause WhatsHook for maintenance or security.
- Open WhatsApp on your phone at least every 14 days. WhatsApp ends linked devices on phones that stay offline longer, and you would need to link again.
- We may change or improve WhatsHook, including its limits and the AI apps it works with. If we make a change that is significantly worse for you, we will tell you, and you can cancel and get a refund for any time you have paid for but not had.
- For help, email hello@whatshook.com.
14. Ownership and permissions
- WhatsHook, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use WhatsHook under these terms while your account is open. Open-source parts of WhatsHook are covered by their own licences.
- Your messages belong to you and the people who sent them. You give us permission to copy, store and process them only as needed to provide WhatsHook to you, as these terms and our Privacy Policy describe. This permission ends when the data is deleted.
- If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without paying you or owing you anything.
15. Our responsibility to you
- We will provide WhatsHook with reasonable care and skill, and as these terms describe. If we don't, please tell us: we will try to put it right, and you may be entitled to a refund or a price reduction.
- WhatsApp and Meta decide for themselves whether to log out, restrict or suspend a number, as section 3 explains. So we are not responsible for any such action about your number or account, or for any loss that follows from it, such as lost chats or lost access to WhatsApp. The only exception is an action caused by our failing to use reasonable care and skill to provide WhatsHook as described (for example, if WhatsHook sent a message, which it is built never to do); even then, the limit below applies.
- We are not responsible for: losses we could not reasonably have foreseen; business losses, such as lost profits, income, opportunities or goodwill (WhatsHook is for personal use); what AI providers do, say or keep; problems caused by WhatsApp, Meta, your phone, devices or internet connection, or anything else outside our reasonable control; loss of chats or other data you could have avoided by keeping your own backup; or losses caused by your breaking these terms.
- Apart from that, our total responsibility to you for everything to do with WhatsHook is limited to the greater of the total you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the loss, and US$50. This limit doesn't apply to our responsibility under data protection law.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, and if the law where you live doesn't allow any of these limits, they apply only as far as that law allows.
16. Your responsibility to us
If you break these terms or the law while using WhatsHook (for example, by misusing other people's messages or by linking a number that isn't yours) and someone makes a claim against us as a result, you are responsible for the reasonable losses and costs we suffer as a direct result, to the extent you caused them.
17. Suspending, cancelling and ending
- You can cancel your subscription at any time, as section 11 explains. WhatsHook keeps working until the end of your trial or the month you have paid for, then pauses; 7 days later, unless you subscribe again, we unlink it from your phone and delete the WhatsApp data we stored.
- “Disconnect and delete my data” unlinks WhatsHook from your phone, disconnects your AI apps and deletes the messages, chat list and WhatsApp login we stored, straight away (backups clear within 30 days). If WhatsHook still shows under Linked devices on your phone afterwards, remove it there. It also cancels your subscription, so nothing more is charged (a payment already made isn't refunded, except under the 14-day refund in section 11). To close your account completely, email us.
- If WhatsApp unlinks WhatsHook, the messages already stored stay available to you and your AI apps until they are 90 days old, your trial or subscription ends, or you choose “Disconnect and delete my data”, which stays on your dashboard.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms; if the law, a court or a regulator requires it; to protect you, other people or our systems (for example, if we think your account has been taken over or misused); if WhatsApp blocks your number from working with WhatsHook; or if a payment fails as section 10 explains. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to put things right.
- We may stop offering WhatsHook altogether, and we will give you at least 30 days' notice where we can. We may suspend or stop it straight away, without notice, if WhatsApp or Meta asks us to, if a court or regulator requires it, or if we reasonably believe continuing would put you, other people or us at legal or security risk.
- Whenever we suspend or end WhatsHook for a reason that isn't your fault, we will refund any payment for time you haven't had.
- When your account or WhatsHook ends, we unlink WhatsHook from your phone (where WhatsApp still lets us) and delete your data as our Privacy Policy explains. Sections 6, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 22 continue to apply.
18. Your data
How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. In short: our database holds the last 90 days of the chats you pick, in Frankfurt, Germany; we never sell your data, use it for advertising or use it to train AI; our staff tools don't show message content; un-picking a chat deletes its stored messages; and “Disconnect and delete my data” deletes the rest of your WhatsApp data, apart from a scrambled code made from your number that we keep so each number gets one free trial.
19. Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms for good reasons: changes in the law, in WhatsHook, in how WhatsApp or AI apps work, or in our providers; for security; or to make them clearer.
- For important changes we will email you, or tell you on your dashboard, at least 30 days before they apply, unless the law or an urgent security need requires a change sooner, in which case we will tell you as soon as we can. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change applies and get a refund for any time you have paid for but not had. We may ask you to accept updated terms on your dashboard.
- Small changes that don't affect you, such as fixing typos or making the wording clearer, may apply straight away. The date at the top shows when these terms last changed.
20. Complaints
If you're unhappy with WhatsHook, please email hello@whatshook.com with your account email and what went wrong. We will reply within 14 days and do our best to put things right. If we can't, we will tell you about an independent dispute resolution service you can use.
21. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live.
- You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in another part of the United Kingdom, in the EU, or anywhere else whose law gives you this right, you can also bring it in the courts where you live. If you live in the United States, section 22 applies instead.
- Please contact us first at hello@whatshook.com; most problems can be sorted out quickly.
22. If you live in the United States
This section applies only if you live in the United States. It affects how disputes are resolved.
- Talk to us first. Before starting a claim, email us at hello@whatshook.com describing the dispute and what you want. If we can't resolve it within 60 days, either of us may start arbitration.
- Arbitration. Any dispute between you and us about WhatsHook or these terms will be decided by binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, instead of in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. Fees are paid as those rules provide, and hearings can take place by video or in the county where you live. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court, or ask a court to stop someone infringing intellectual property.
- No class actions or jury trials. You and we may each bring claims only on our own behalf, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, and we both give up the right to a jury trial. If 25 or more similar claims are brought by or with the help of the same lawyers or organisation, the American Arbitration Association's rules for mass filings apply.
- Opting out. You can opt out of this section within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing us your name, your account email and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration.
- If any part of this section can't be enforced for a claim, that claim goes to the state or federal courts for the county where you live instead, and the rest of this section still applies.
23. General
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer this agreement to anyone else. We may transfer it to another organisation that takes over WhatsHook; we will tell you, your rights stay the same, and you can cancel if you're unhappy.
- Nobody else has any rights under this agreement.
- You enter into this agreement by ticking the box on your dashboard. A subscription starts when you complete checkout with our payment provider, where you can check and correct your details before you confirm. We keep a record of when you accepted these terms, they are always available at whatshook.com/terms, and we will send you the version you accepted if you ask.
- These terms are in English, and we will communicate with you in English.
- We contact you by email at your account address or on your dashboard. You can contact us at hello@whatshook.com; formal legal notices can also be sent to our registered office.
